Our Story

Where Blooms Tell Stories & Traditions Take Root

At Legacy Flower Farm WNC, every bloom carries a story—one of family, tradition, and the simple joys of life.

Hi, I’m Vikki and for me, flowers have always been tied to my fondest memories. As a child, I spent summer days on Granny Bradley’s front porch, plucking roses from her sprawling rose bush and pressing the petals to my fingertips, creating delicate "rose petal nails" that reminded me of Aunt Wanda’s rose lotion. It made us feel so fancy!

Later, my sister Linda and I would walk home from school past a patch of wild sweet peas, their scent so sweet it reminded us of those fruity Fruit Loops cereal we would eat for breakfast! We’d gather bunches for Mama, who would bury her face in the bouquet, breathe in deeply, and grin like a child. We would giggle at the silly face she made.

Those simple moments, filled with laughter and love, planted the seeds for what would one day become Legacy Flower Farm WNC.

A Farm Built for Family & Community

After retirement, I felt a deep desire to create something meaningful—something beyond myself and my husband, Ray. I wanted to build something that would bring younger generations of our family together, instill a strong sense of community, and give us all the satisfaction of working toward something bigger than ourselves.

What could fit the bill? A perennial flower farm was the perfect answer.

Flowers connect people, tell stories, and mark life’s special moments. But more than that, this Blue Ridge Mountain farm isn’t just for us—it’s a legacy in bloom, a gift to be shared across generations.

A Fourth-Generation Farm Transformed

The land we cultivate has been in our family for four generations, once home to cattle and tobacco fields. When we started, it was no small task—mowing down shoulder-high briars and weeds, fencing the land with telephone poles and six-strand barbed wire to keep the cattle out, and slowly transforming the fields into something new.

Beginning in 2024 through today we’ve planted and nurtured some 600 peonies, carefully fertilized and cultivated to bloom in the years ahead.

At our home, we’ve repurposed the old vegetable garden into raised beds bursting with vibrant annuals, ensuring that we can offer fresh, local flowers to Western North Carolina from spring through fall—weather permitting! Currently we sell at pop-ups and through CSA subscriptions and collab with local business until the farm gets established with a farm stand and barn.
